Puerto Rico 2014

On July 26, 2014 Max International was proud to host a major charity and opportunity event in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico featuring NBA Hall of Fame Player and original Olympic Dream Team Champion Chris Mullin. Max International has been so welcomed by the Puerto Rican community, it was an honor to take part in such an amazing event. Close to 700 people showed up at the beautiful Coliseo Ruben Zaya Montanez to see Chris play an exhibition game against several legendary Puerto Rican basketball players and in a wheelchair basketball game with FEBASIRU, the local National Wheelchair Basketball Association Team. This was Chris’ first time ever playing basketball from a wheelchair, so it was certainly an historic event! Some of the proceeds for the event were donated to a local mental health hospital and other proceeds went directly to FEBASIRU. The wheelchair basketball team members are the embodiment of resilience and camaraderie. They embrace physical activity as a means to keep themselves healthy both physically and mentally while helping themselves deal with their everyday challenges. Being a world renowned member of the famous 1992 Dream Team, Chris Mullin has had many amazing experiences, yet expressed how humbled and inspired he was by this experience and the team he was able to be a part of on this day.
